The International Park Golf Association has set upper limits on the length of park golf holes and courses. Course A busy day on a Park Golf course in Miyagi, Japan.Ī "round" of park golf is 9 holes. Despite this, the majority of the 700,000 parkers continue to be of retirement age. For this reason, it is a good sport for children and families. The cost of playing is also low and the rules are simple. Courses are relatively short and the physical strain of the game is low. A single ball and club are sufficient for a game of park golf. The founders of the sport wanted to keep it simple so that people of all ages could become parkers easily. At the same time, there is also a strong emphasis on harmony with other players (players of park golf are referred to as parkers) and the natural setting of the course. The competitive object of the game is to hit the ball into a hole with a club in the fewest strokes. Aesthetically, it resembles a sport somewhere between golf and croquet. Park golf ( パークゴルフ, pāku gorufu) is a form of golf played in a park that was invented in Makubetsu, Hokkaido, Japan in 1983. We finished the round in four hours and fifteen minutes and that will be the last time ever at this course.A player about to swing at a park golf course in Eniwa, Hokkaido. I try to remain as positive as possible in my reviews but when treated like this, I have to be absolutely fair and tell the story. While on the putting green around the 14th, we could see the same marshal racing towards us again only this time he started stamping the green about 10 feet away while each of us were putting! This was from the twilight zone! He had absolutely no regard for us and some kind of hate. Greens were recently top dressed with inconsistent speed. The golf course had a nice layout and some challenges but it wasn't enough to bring our score above our average play of mid 80's and low 90's. ![]() We had caught up to the next group at the third tee and from this moment on, we were held up but of course, no marshal to aid us. We continued on with our play with this unruly treatment in our minds and tried to enjoy the rest our round. Several thoughts came to mind about his demeanour:ġ) Hot Deal treatment (experienced this several other times at other courses where we have been treated much differently in a negative way) Ģ) Two out of four of are women yes I'm going to go there. Going back to my comment about not being able to use the driver on the range, have a guess how our first shot went? Unfortunately a couple of us had a little trouble trying to recover and slowed the game a little more.Īt the second tee, I could see the marshal racing over from the first hole and instead of waiting for our first guy at the tee to hit, as he was ready, he continued to approach in his cart, started at his top speed yelling the Riot Act to us instead of perhaps asking us to pick up our speed. This is when I asked the starter if we could begin which we did after he clued in. After a couple of minutes waiting and no one on the first hole, I noticed the next group of two-some coming up behind us. We talked to the friendly starter (who didn't know what the green speed was running at nor what a stimpmeter was) and waited for him to give us the go-ahead. When our group was called to the first tee, we admittedly were about a minute late to get to the tee. No opportunity to use the driver which we all know as golfers, first hole play is always with this club. We each got a token for practice balls (balls must have been from the 1970's judging from the look of them) and we had to hit off mats. Upon arrival at the Pro-shop, we were well received at the desk and the very friendly restaurant staff. We found a Hot Deal for the four of us on November 21. It was a no-brainer but to give this place a try. Based on our research, this course was give a very decent score of 4.0 or more overall. This was our second round of Vegas golf with friends who flew in from around the world.įirstly, before any booking is made whether it be on TripAdvisor, Golfnow or other sites, we read through many reviews and more particularly, positive ones.
